Our housing office hosted their first pie baking contest and lo and behold I prevailed! I baked an Apple Caramel Crumb Pie and I must say it was most delicious. I won a basket of Pampered Chef items that I am absolutely thrilled with and am itching to find a recipe for next year. If you would like a copy of the recipe, I would love to share it with you but you have to shoot us an email to let us know how you are doing. We went to Disneyland with the Miles and Newby families. Here are the Miles and our kiddos. I thought it would be easier to keep track of all the kiddos if they were matching so we lovingly called them the "pinks", "stripes" and "purples". After five days in the magical world, no one got lost but we did use the washing machine a lot at the hotel to keep washing the shirts! We had 12 children and 7 adults in our party and the sea of people parted many times as we made our way through the ticket booths. We could have stayed several more days and learned a lot about our children. Breanna will pretty much try anything and went on every ride available to include the Tower of Terror (Twilight Zone), Ryan loved the fast spinny rides and did not like anything that gave him "butterflies" --roller coasters, and Courtney fell in love with "It's a Small World" and loved "A Bugs World" from "Bugs Life". Her favorite train was Heimlich and her "Small World" snow globe will for ever be playing a tune we will someday want to forget I am sure. We had dinner with the princesses at Ariel's Grotto and watched Fantasmic and caught the end of some of their holiday shows. Derek was fascinated with Pirates of the Caribbean and learned to love his stroller. The day we were packing up, we found him sitting in his stroller seat ready to rock and roll. He cried when we took him out to load in the Suburban. Amy learned it is possible to eat healthy while at the park and walking 12 hours a day could count for her daily exercise. Kevin relearned that he loves Churros and that jeans don't dry as fast as they should in January outside. We bought season passes to this magical world and are planning on going later in the month or in February so be prepared for lots of slide shows and eventually we will get little miss Courtney on a roller coaster!
In California Adventure Land we found Mater and Lightning McQueen. Ryan was definitely excited to meet the truck who sleep with him (on his PJ's)
One of the most amazing parts of the trip was "Jedi Training". All of the kiddos who wanted to become Padowans were given the opportunity to learn to use a lightsaber, fight Stormtroopers, Darth Vadar and Darth Maul. Since that day, Jedi training has continued on a daily basis and hooded towels have been used as robes.

We had the Brocks and Fernengels over to celebrate Derek's 1st birthday on the 30th of December (his actual birthday). Kevin made a Jack Russell Terrier cake to resemble Ginny and then we had our own little cake for Derek to tear into. Fun was had by all and we cannot believe that our baby is a year old! Eek!

It was a wonderful day. Our children are truly our greatest blessing. We had dinner with the Brocks and Fernengels and my ribbon jello turned out beautifully! Thank you Marc and Lisa for opening your home to all 17 of us. Our dinner menu included roughly 17 items....mmm!
