For those of you who have been to Vandenberg, you will probably remember the old housing, but the beautiful trees surrounding them. Well this is what we get to look at everyday now--right across the street. Progress definitely has a down side...
New field grade houses are slated to be on Aspen and Cedar later this fall. Maybe, just maybe we have a 1 percent chance of moving into one. That might make all of this construction traffic and noise actually worth it. I hate seeing trees bulldozed...I also added some more photos to our Utah trip.

We took our first vacation to Northern Utah and attended Kevin's sister's wedding in Springville. While we were there, we visited the family I nannied for years ago--The Roney's. They built a beautiful home and let us stay in their "barn"--really very unique and beautiful part of their home that has been constructed from pieces of wood you would build a barn out of. After the wedding we headed to Pleasant Grove and stayed with Dad and Darlene. We visited BYU campus (trying to indoctrinate the kids early), took a trip to Lagoon, ate at our favorite restaurants, visited friends, surprised some family (Hillary's baby blessing) and Kevin met the Mecham side of the family. Overall a great trip and we are gearing up for our next one in July.

So I turn my soaker hose on to water my flowers and lo and behold the water travels the path of least resistance and makes a puddle. Derek escapes outside with Ginny (our dog) because she jumped up and opened the screen door and where does he go? Of course to the puddle. By the time I made it outside (a few seconds later) here he was in all of his glory. Covered from head to toe in sandy dirty water. I had to spray him off in the sink before I could even get his clothes off--oh and by the way this all happened right as we were leaving to pick up Ryan from kindergarten. Of course!
Later that day he ate corn on the cob for the first time and you can tell how it was received....I have never seen a cob so clean!
